The pallet and the loaded unit have different dimensions
An EPAL 1 pallet has an 800 × 1200 mm footprint. That is the pallet size, not a guaranteed footprint for the goods on top. Measure the outermost packaging points and the height from the floor to the highest point. State actual overhang if boxes extend beyond the base.
Prepare a short packing list
For a shipment with different units, list each type separately. Do not average dimensions when one tall or wide pallet determines the vehicle requirements.
- Number of each unit type, with length, width and height.
- Total weight including pallets and packaging, plus the weight of any particularly heavy unit.
- Whether stacking is allowed and any agreed restrictions.
- Loading method, required door opening and availability of a loading dock.
- Any requirement to return or exchange pallets, agreed separately.
Example shipment description
“8 units, each 1.20 × 0.80 × 1.60 m; total weight including pallets 3.2 tonnes; no stacking; rear loading by forklift; dry enclosed body.” This is an illustrative description. Use your own measurements and agree suitable packaging and securing arrangements for the actual goods.
Why volume alone is not enough
The same volume can occupy different floor areas and heights. Check all three dimensions, payload and body openings. REISNO lets you specify dimensions, but does not automatically calculate a loading layout or a safe securing arrangement.
